As many of you know, I am punishing myself with an arduous triathlon in the Alps in July, It would be great if something good could come from my suffering!
Please have a look at what the charity we are doing and feel free to pledge as much or as little as you like to help us make a difference!

Malawi is classified by the World Health Organisation as the 6th poorest country in the world. With little or no provision for dental health untreated dental issues routinely go untreated and result in pain, serious illness and with untreated infections the result can be terminal.
What is The Dental Surgery doing?
Dentaid has established a base in QECH Hospital in Blantyre, one of Malawi’s largest towns. Last year they helped build a unit with 6 operational and hygienic surgeries. This base is now in dire need of ongoing funding and support. Without our support it will not be able to:
-Meet the day to day cost of running the center.
-Pay local staff to run the facility.
-Train new local dental therapists to provide a system of ongoing care.
-Expand their operations to where they are really needed, into the rural areas of Malawi.
The dental surgery fully supports this initiative.
Many of us have personally made donations to the project and the dental surgery is proud to be the sponsors of this ongoing project. The difficulty with charitable donations is not knowing exactly where your money is going. In this case we can be sure that every penny of donation will land in the correct hands. Ben will be making a personal visit to the unit in November to ensure the donated funds and equipment arrives safely and to establish an ongoing link between The Dental Surgery and the QECH dental unit. In the future we hope to have an increasing involvement with the project including training and treatment visits as well as much needed ongoing financial support.
What you can do
You can help make a real difference to people’s lives by pledging a donation or sponsorship today. This project desperately needs funds, can you imagine the difference you can make to millions of Malawians who live on less than a dollar a day and have no access whatsoever to dental care.
To give you an incentive why not sponsor Ben the dentist to endure 8-9 hours of agony! Yes you can sponsor a great cause and have the satisfaction of knowing a dentist is suffering through one of the worlds most infamous and unforgiving long distance triathlon events in the world on the 24th of JULY
