The Dental Surgery Team

    • Shaun Smith B.D.S (GDC reg no: 59905)

      Shaun graduated from Otago (New Zealand) in 1983 and joined the practice in 1989. He has extensive experience and post-graduate education in most areas of Dentistry. His special areas of interest are complicated restorative cases, management of stress related Dental problems (toothwear, headaches) and difficult cosmetic cases. He is a member of The British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry, The British Society of Occlusal Studies, The American Equilibration Society, The British Society of Periodontology, The Association of Dental Implantologists, The British Dental Association, The Chicago Dental Society, and The London Dental Study Club.

    • Simon Nocton B.D.S (GDC reg no: 62959)

      Simon placed his first implant 1990 after qualifying in 1987. He was one of the first in the UK to study on an implant year course and received the fellowship of Dental Implantology 1992.

      Simon combined teaching at Guys Dental Hospital and private practice for ten years before commencing full time on an implant based practice both surgical and prosthetic phases. Currently he takes referrals for implant placement from many dentists throughout London and the South East of England, as part of the referral process Simon has developed and innovative tracking system to allow his referring practioners to be actively involved and informed on treatments. In 2005 Simon also launched U Dentistry an Implant referral practice in Illkey, Yorkshire.  In addition he has been actively involved in the development of two different implant systems. As a respected member within the ITI, he is passionate about education in implant dentistry and involved in mentoring. Simon has lectured both nationally and internationally on implant dentistry and aesthetics, as well as giving courses to Dentists beginning their implant careers.

      Simon is a member of ADI and he also pursues his own education programme to ensure that both he and his implant team stay at the fore front of implant dentistry.

    • Martin Bell B.D.S MSc. (GDC reg no: 66136)

      Martin graduated from Kings in London in 1990 and went on to gain a Masters degree in Conservative Dentistry in1996 from Guys Hospital. He taught undergraduates there on a part time basis for the next 6 years. Martin was a past president of the London Dental Study Club, he also travels to U.S and Europe for post graduate courses.

    • Penny Grace B.D.S (GDC reg no: 68634)

      Penny trained at Guys Hospital graduating in 1992. She has now worked in the city for 15 years gaining a comprehensive knowledge of all areas in dentisty. Whilst much of her interests lie in cosmetic dentistry she has also been placing and restoring implants for the last 11 years. She aims to provide a high standard of dentistry in a relaxed, friendly and efficient atmosphere, keeping abreast of current techniques through regular continuing development courses. She is a member if the British Dental Society, Association of Dental Implantologists and British Dental Bleaching Society.

    • Kirsty Fiddes B.D.S (GDC reg no: 75575)

      Kirsty graduated from the University of Otago (Dunedin, New Zealand) in 1993. She worked in private practice in Wellington for 5 years before emigrating to London to join the team at The Dental Surgery in 1999. Kirsty has spent her 10 years in London developing her dental skills and knowledge. She travels extensively to attend courses and seminars and is the Past President of the London Dental Study Club 2007/2008. Kirsty currently is the President of the New Zealand Dentists in London Club. She welcomes new patients into her friendly surgery.

    • Ben Molyneux B.D.S (GDC reg no: 76460)

      Ben passionately pursues further education in the fields of surgical and implant dentistry and has a broad surgical experience including autogenous bone grafting procedures and sinus augmentation.

      Ben is one of the few dentists to have achieved the much-coveted Diploma in Implant Dentistry and Advanced Surgical Certificate at the Royal College of Surgeons.

      Ben has an infectious enthusiasm for dentistry and works closely with referring dentists, who appreciate his open access surgery policy and relish their active involvement in each case from planning to completion. Since joining Simon at The Implant Surgery 5 years ago, Ben has developed a thriving practice based on both the surgical and prosthetic aspects of implant dentistry.

    • James Granger BDS (GDC reg no: 82105)

      James qualified from the university of Bristol in 2003, he joins us after spending more than 5 years as a general practitioner in Cambridge. During this time he spent an elective period in Tanzania, working for a charity to run emergency dental clinics. He is committed to high quality dentistry provided in a relaxed and caring environment. Outside of the practice James enjoys travelling and on recent trips explored South and Central America.

    • Sarah Gilder Dip Hyg DCP

      Sarah Gilder qualified as a Dental Hygienist from Guys Hospital, London 1989, where she was awarded the 'Hu Friedy' prize for clinical skills. She has continued to attend post graduate education on a regular basis. Sarah has been at the practice since 1995. In 1999 she co-founded 'The City Hygiene Study Club' with her fellow hygienists at The Dental Surgery.

    • Kate Watson Dip Hyg DCP

      Kate Watson qualified as a Dental Hygienist from the Eastman Dental Hospital, London 2003.  She is a member of the British Hygienist Association and has continued to extend her knowledge and skills with post graduate courses.  Since qualifying kate has worked in Cambridge and London, joining the Dental Surgery in 2005.

    • Katie Marshall Dip Hyg DCP

      Katie Marshall qualified as a Dental Hygienist from the Eastman Dental Hospital, London. She is a member of the Bristish Hygienist Association and reguarly attends courses ton ensure continual professional development. Katie joined The Dental Surgery team in April 2010

    • Gemma Morgan Dip Hyg DCPLorem ipsum

      Gemma Morgan began her career in dentistry serving 3 years in the Royal Air Force. After gaining a place at Liverpool University Dental Hospital, she then qualified as a dental hygienist. She is a member of the British Hygienist Association and ensures she maintains her Continual Professional Development by attending postgraduate courses.Gemma joined the dental surgery team in March 2010.

    • Thomas O’Connor BDS (GDC Reg no; 74890)

      Thomas graduated from University College Cork, and was honoured by The International Pierre Fauchard Academy, for outstanding academic achievement in dentistry.

      For the past ten years he has worked in private practice in Cambridge where he has established a reputation for clinical excellence, with a caring, ethical and minimally invasive approach. He has completed The Certificate Course in Advanced Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry, is a Gold Member of The British Dental Bleaching Society and is certified in the clinical use of Botox and facial dermal fillers.

      In 2010, Thomas was appointed to the Board of Directors of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and he is currently the BACD Membership Director.
